SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: WRITING

We all have different voices, attitudes, and experiences, but what we all have in common is our love for our local music scenes and the different sounds and artists that we listen to. The Record Underground is always looking to hear the latest opinions of music addicts, longtime listeners, and diehard fans. To be on top of the ever-changing music landscape, we accept submissions year round, meaning we have open submissions always!

What to write about?

We’re happy to accept writing focusing on indie pop/rock, alternative rock, rock and roll, punk, and metal genres and any of their subgenres. This can mean local south florida bands, but we are also looking to feature indie/alt musicians anywhere and anywhere.

If you don’t want to write articles about specific bands or genres, we are also looking to accept poetry and prose inspired by music and any articles highlighting the culture of South Florida.

Need some ideas? Here are some different topics we’d love to feature:

  • Album and Song Reviews
  • Genre Explorations and Critiques
  • Artist’s discography and deep dives (the good and the bad)
  • History of different genres and musical movements
  • Poetry inspired by music or living in south florida (as much as we would love to feature sad breakup poetry, this is not the place for that at the moment)

Feel free to check out different articles already on the website for more inspiration!
